Red Rock Film Festival to announce accepted films

SOUTHERN UTAH – In anticipation of the main event, to be held in November, the Red Rock Film Festival will announce its extensive lineup of accepted films Sept. 15.

Red Rock, which is celebrating its sixth anniversary this year, is the largest film festival in Southern Utah. A total of 144 films were presented last year and in 2010, filmmakers from 47 countries submitted over 700 works for consideration. MovieMaker Magazine also named Red Rock in its 2009 list of “Festivals Worth the Entry Fee.”

The festival focuses on independent filmmaking and accepts dramatic narratives, documentaries, experimental films, animated films, full-length feature films, short films and films made by youth, all of which compete for the top prize in their category.

Festival director Matt Marxteyn said that Red Rock is a “truly international festival” and unique because of its “independent spirit.”

The festival will be held Nov. 8-17 at a variety of venues, with events centered in St. George, Springdale and Mesquite, Nev.
