Hilarious ‘Odd Couple’ hits St. George Musical Theater

ST. GEORGE — After the very successful “Sound of Music,” the St. George Musical Theater presents “The Odd Couple,” a hilarious comedy written by famous playwright Neil Simon.

The show is directed by Richard Bugg, the founder of the Neil Simon Festival, and stars two veteran performers and theater educators, Varlo Davenport, as Oscar, and Richard Hill, as Felix).

We are so fortunate to have these talented individuals involved,” Bruce Bennett, the music theater’s executive director, said. “This show does not feel like community theater with this kind of experience at work.

The show will be presented in the round, providing an intimate setting.

“With only a one room set,” Bennett said, “it literally feels like you are a fly on the wall in these characters apartment, and this show is nonstop comedy from start to finish.

The St. George Musical Theater also announced the promotion of Debe Jacobs to the position of Artistic Director.

Jacobs recently moved to St. George after years of experience with the Hale Centre Theatre, Draper Historic Theater, West Jordan Sugar Factory Playhouse and Westminister College.

“One of the great things about (Jacobs) is she has literally done it all when it comes to the stage — every aspect from the production and performance parts of theater, she understands every detail,” Bennet said. “We are very fortunate to have her on board.”

Bruce – I talked to you yesterday about the mix-up on my tickets. I ordered 6 seats in row C on the south side for Sat., Nov. 22, but they were issued for the 15th which is already past. Could you please RESERVE THE 8 REMAINING SEATS IN THAT LOCATION for the 22nd as I have 2 more people joining us. I am unable to reach the ticket # and some of the seats I thought I had have already been taken. Give me a call – 628-8045.
    Thanks, Carol Cashman
