ZION NATIONAL PARK – Zion National Park rangers helped a hiker reach safety Tuesday night in the Kolob Terrace area of the park after she experienced medical problems, and needed help getting off the trail.
The initial call came in at just after 9 p.m., and Zion National Park rangers responded.
“It was a medical (assist),” Zion National Park spokeswoman Aly Baltrus said, “an 18-year-old woman on the Connector Trail having kidney problems.”
The Connector Trail is a 4.1 mile trail in the Kolob Terrace area of the park, Balers said, and connects the Hop Valley Trail to the Wildcat Trail.
The woman was transported by Hurricane Valley Fire and Ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center, Balers said.
Because the GPS coordinates for the call fell within Zion National Park boundaries, Washington County Search and Rescue Commander Mike Thomas said, Zion Park rangers responded to the incident. The rangers did not need assistance so Washington County Search and Rescue did not respond.
