BRYCE CANYON CITY – The season of birth and renewal is upon us and what better way to watch the earth spring to life than at one of Utah’s treasured National Parks? It’s April and the buzz word around Bryce Canyon National Park is “weather.”
“There is beautiful weather in the park right now,” Lance Syrett, general manager of historic Ruby’s Inn, said.
According to Bryce Canyon National Park’s Web page on weather, high temperatures in April are in the mid-50s with lows dipping just below freezing at night.
Ruby’s Inn provides the park’s closest lodging as well as onsite dining, an indoor pool, guided horseback riding, horse-drawn wagon rides, scenic flights, all-terrain vehicle tours and mountain bike rentals.
“This is a great place for cycling,” Syrett said, “both road and mountain.”

Other popular activities in and near the park include hiking, scenic drives to canyon view points and shopping in Old Bryce Town.
April is the perfect time to take advantage of hot deals at Ruby’s Inn and enjoy the park’s many offerings without the peak season crowds, Syrett said adding that visitors will get a more intimate experience in the park.
“If you are at all flexible,” Syrett said, “you are going to have a lot nicer experience and it is going to be a lot less expensive.”
And who wouldn’t want front row views and more private access to the mystical hoodoos and inviting forests of Bryce?

There is no place quite like Bryce Canyon. Hoodoos (odd-shaped pillars of rock left standing from the forces of erosion) can be found on every continent, but here is the archetypical “hoodoo-iferous” terrain. Descriptions fail. Cave without a roof? Forest of stone? Even photographs strain credulity. When you visit maybe you’ll come up with a better name. In the meantime “Bryce” will have to suffice.
As part of National Park Week all park entry fees will be waived on April 18-19.
