HURRICANE — A rear-end collision on state Route 9 Thursday afternoon left two vehicles damaged but no persons reported any injuries that required transport.
Just after 12:30 p.m., Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said, a Nissan Altima, with Nevada license plates, eastbound on SR-9 was waiting at the light at 5300 West – near the Washington County Department of Motor Vehicles – when a 1997 Ford F-350 tow truck coming up from behind failed to stop and ran into the back of the Nissan.
The Nissan was driven by a 33-year-old woman, carrying a 34-year-old male passenger who complained of minor neck pain, Buell said, but refused transport to the hospital. They were wearing seat belts.
The 34-year-old male driver of the tow truck was issued a citation for following too close.
SR-9 had one lane closed for about 30 minutes because of the accident, Buell said. Units responded from Hurricane Police and Hurricane Valley Fire departments, and from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
