MESQUITE — The Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery has named Kathy Ludwig its Artist of the Month for June, an artist whose work is inspired by her immediate surroundings and in turn can inspire others to see their own world in a whole new light.

Art is a way of life, an attitude, a feeling for Ludwig, the gallery’s news release said. For her, there is a constant search for themes, new mediums, light and darks, messages to convey in paintings.

“Sometimes what you search for is right in front of you,” Ludwig said, according to the gallery’s release.

Ludwig’s feeling is that “home” is finding inspiration in your surroundings and where artists gather, the release said.  Having lived in states such as Florida and Arizona, she now resides in Nevada, previously in Laughlin and now Mesquite.  While in Florida, Ludwig studied with Judi Dazzio at the St. Petersburg Art Center on a five-year scholarship.

Ludwig finds beauty in the neon lights of Las Vegas, the mesas of Mesquite and the cool water of the Colorado River in Laughlin, the release said.

Her goal is to give back to society through art by stretching her imagination and using more topical themes that might inspire viewers to look at the world in a new light.  At one Virgin Valley Artists Association competition, Ludwig won the blue ribbon for her work “Stardust.” Her unique style makes her a perennial winner at the association’s competitions.

Ludwig’s artwork will be on display at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery, 15 W. Mesquite Blvd., (telephone 702-346-1338) during the month of June.
