2 Utah national parks make top 10 list

ST. GEORGE — Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service coming up on August 25, 2016, TripAdvisor has announced their top 10 list of United States national parks. Two Utah parks made it on the list this year.

The list is based on surveys of travelers and reviews and opinions of TripAdvisor travelers.

TripAdvisor’s top 10 national parks:

  1. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
  2. Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah
  3. Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
  4. Haleakala National Park, Hawaii
  5. Glacier National Park, Montana
  6. Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado
  7. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, California
  8. Yosemite National Park, California
  9. Zion National Park, Utah
  10. Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico

Grand Canyon National Park is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world, with more than 1900 square miles of river valleys up to a mile deep.

Bryce Canyon National Park was the second place finisher. TripAdvisor says, “The 56-square-mile park’s unique blend of pine trees and rock formations make it a truly breathtaking spot.” One review says, “Photographs do not do it justice. An imagination of wonder…”

Zion National Park came in ninth on the list, thanks to reviews like, “Zion National Park is home to 289 species of birds, 75 mammals and 32 reptiles across its four unique life zones. Take in the impressive sandstone cliffs, canyons and natural arches…”
