ST. GEORGE — A man driving a pickup truck Saturday morning experienced what police called a medical condition that rendered him unconscious leaving his truck to veer off the road and through a fence, stopping just shy of traffic flowing down Interstate 15.

The man was driving westbound on Red Hills Parkway in St. George around 9:45 a.m., St. George Police Sgt. Tyrell Bangerter said, when he became unconscious.
The truck crossed over into oncoming traffic, hit the curb, took out the fence dividing the frontage road from the interstate and ended up in the ditch next to the shoulder of the interstate.
There were no passengers with the truck and the man was unconscious when responders arrived.
“The male driver experienced a medical condition,” Bangerter said.
The man, still unconscious, was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Bangerter said. Details about his condition were not released.
St. George Police and Fire departments, Utah Highway Patrol and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.
