ST. GEORGE — An 80-year-old woman was sent to the hospital after being struck by a car in the Chuck-A-Rama parking lot Thursday evening.
St. George Police responded to the incident at approximately 7:25 p.m. at the parking lot located at 127 N. Red Cliffs Drive.
A woman backing her vehicle out of a parking stall struck the older woman as she was walking behind the vehicle, knocking her to the ground, St. George Police Lt. Rich Triplett said.
Emergency responders from St. George Fire and Gold Cross ambulance tended to the woman.
She was transported to the hospital out of precaution, but “no obvious injuries” were apparent at the time of the incident, Triplett said.
The investigating officer has yet to issue a citation, and any enforcement action is pending until the investigation is completed, he added.
Though it was dark at the time of the incident, the parking lot was well lit.
Several onlookers from adjacent businesses gathered at the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Trying 2 make something out of nothing. slow night ?
Parking. Lots do not allow for enough space to back out.. This is a busy parking lot but the driver should have seen in the mirrors, maybe the 80 yr old lady was short?? No pun intended.. The parking lot at Einstein bagels is so dangerous, you gave 3 restaurants. Only 2 handicapp places and people in,using tourists coming and running thru the parking lot, not sure how the city council allowed those busy businesses with so few spaces.. A lot of my friends stopped shopping there because of the parking problem..
Roads are dangerous also have your friends quit driving ? air pollution is dangerous 2. have your friends stopped breathing. ? flying can be dangerous also. Let’s shut down all the airports. there are no handicap airplane parking spots at the airport either.
eating out can be dangerous as well considering all the reports of food poisoning lately.have your friends quit eating as well ? .
