ST. GEORGE — The 2016 Jubilee of Trees is coming to the Dixie Center St. George, an annual five-day event that raises funds for Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, this year with a focus on helping the center meet the needs of women and newborn babies.
“We want every birth experience to be a safe, beautiful one,” Dixie Regional Director of Women and Newborn Services Amy Christensen said.
This year’s jubilee launches with a Bar J Wranglers concert the night of Nov. 16 and then opens its doors for the event-packed jubilee Nov. 17-21 showcasing designer Christmas trees in the convention center, entertainment, annual holiday ticketed events: Chamber of Commerce Luncheon; Gala Dinner and Auction; Teddy Bear Picnic; and the Fashion Show Luncheon.
Fundraising purposes
Intermountain Healthcare Foundation sponsors the annual jubilee. Funds raised this year will go towards the new northwest tower under construction at the medical center’s River Road campus. The center will consolidate all women and newborn services there, including maternal fetal medicine and fertility. Having them in closer proximity will increase efficiency and coordination, Dixie Regional’s news release said.
The expanded 20-room newborn intensive care unit will include four larger rooms to accommodate multiple births. The labor and delivery unit will have 14 rooms plus two cesarean-section operating rooms. Two of the rooms will be “Simply Birth” rooms, allowing for a more homelike, low-intervention, natural childbirth experience.

The 28-bed maternity unit will include new technology and modern advancements for efficiency and comfort, including family-oriented amenities such as pull-out beds for overnight stays.
“As we build the new tower that will house our services, the contributions that come through the Jubilee of Trees will make a significant difference,” Christensen said.
“The arrival of a new family member is one of the most touching moments of life,” said Glenna Beyer, chief development officer for Intermountain’s Southwest Region. “We are thrilled to help raise funds that will help make that experience safe and memorable for families.”
Jubilee general admission
The talented volunteer leadership board that organizes the Jubilee of Trees is busy making every second count as they prepare this dazzling event.
General admission to the jubilee includes the main attraction – the incredible designer trees – and an Enchanted Forest display of smaller trees, miniature trees, holiday wreaths and festive dining displays.
The Dixie Regional Guild adds its complement to the jubilee with handmade gifts for sale. A Sweet Shoppe offers traditional homemade treats of gingerbread and other holiday sweets. Food vendors offer other edibles.
The Li’l Elf Workshoppe will buzz with crafts, activities and of course Santa Claus.
Saturday evening at 6 p.m. general admission attendees will also enjoy Jubilee in Concert: A Night of Utah Stars at no extra charge. The concert features Lyndy Butler, Cherie Call and Eric Dodge for a night of lovely Christmas harmony.
Preregister, bid by smartphone
For the first time those who wish to can use a smartphone to preregister for the jubilee by Nov. 11 on www.gesture .com and then bid on items during the silent auction.
