SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints confirmed Tuesday it had excommunicated a member of its Quorum of the Seventy.
According to a report from Fox 13, the LDS church confirmed in a statement the excommunication of James Hamula following “disciplinary action.”
The LDS church did not state a reason for the excommunication.
“This morning James J. Hamula was released as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, following Church disciplinary action by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles,” the church said in a statement.
Hamula has served as a general authority in the LDS Church’s Quorum of the Seventy since 2008. Previously, he was a member of the faith’s Pacific Area Presidency, headquartered in New Zealand.

I wonder what the age of the vicitm was, and gender.
good question
Makes me wonder what he did. “To save the soul of the transgressor” that saying in itself is not a bad thing. The problem I have with Mormon religion is they think they can save a soul. Only accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior can save your soul….. John 3:16……another issue I have is there is a strive for perfection and that ain’t never gonna happen. Jesus was the only perfect and sinless man
Perhaps the prison motto should be: “To save the soul of the transgressors” I like that. I think it’s catchy.
Yes! Exactly LBA. Another thing that gets me, is the bible talked about how Jesus was not happy about taxes being charged outside the temple. Temples were only needed to offer sacrifices, before Jesus saved us all. Oh and you can not go into Mormon temples unless full tithe is paid, well tithe to me is like paying taxes to enter their temple, that really gets to me.
I know. 23 yrs ago,I was searching for God. The Bible says, Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I was seeking with all my heart. I had some issues that needed to be resolved. I had some questions that needed to be answered. So, I went with my husband at the time and his family to salt lake and they were going to the temple. Outside the temple, they said, You Can’t Come In……..I said to myself, God isn’t here because He says I will find him. They saved me a lot of heartache that day. My quest went on. And here I am lovin’ Jesus❤️ with my issues with God resolved and my questions answered.
Commenter Brian has previously invited me to the 1000 or 10,000 other little LDS churches where I am welcomed. I respectfully decline. I got my answer that day, 23 yrs ago. I may not have known where God was, but that day, I learned where he wasn’t.
God is on the throne and Jesus is sitting on the right hand side. The only way to the father is through Jesus. The devil rules the earth seeking whom he can devour. Much power the devil has but when you have God protecting your soul, you see the glory and the power of God in every situation, good or bad. Gods ways are not our ways.
Well you are commanded to pay tithing in the Bible (Malachi) so I guess it isn’t a problem after all
I’ve never heard the Mormon church say they are going to save your soul. The church is nothing without Christ and only Christ can save. Also, Jesus commands you to be perfect like your Father in heaven is perfect. That is straight out of the Bible. So what other fallacies do I need to clear up for you???
Let me ask you this. was the excommunication of James Hamula because he wasn’t perfect?
Why? We need a news leak!
LOL, since they’re not giving a reason I guess we’re free to speculate? First thing comes to mind when I see his photo is this is a man that’s been having random homosexual encounters in men’s bathroom stalls. Either than or online. If not something like that he’s probably just been stealing the tithing money or something to that effect. I love the LDS church.
LOL 😉
HaHa I thought the same thing- homosexual and stealing, also child molester came to mind
could very well be a child molester
Excommunicated from a fairy tale, lol what a bunch of nonsense. Then we gleam the never ending assertion a god really exists with comments like that of ladybug.
Just can’t comprehend how delusions still remain in the 21st century. Our species will never advance to a level 2 intelligence if we don’t stop believing in fairy tales as though they are a reality.
Good to see you chime in Theone. I missed you so I knocked on the door and you answered. Have a blessed day!
You knocked on heavens door and got nothing, then you knocked on realities door and got me.
You’ve been blessed with my presence. Stay real ladybug
Too funny theone. I have to laugh because one day you’re going to find out that you are the one believing a fairytale and the one that is delusional. Reality? You should get a reality show.
Theone’s world: cleansing you of fairytale’s and delusions and bringing you into reality.
(Oh snap! That sounds like a cult)
That was a fine example of delusional thinking, thanks ladybug for making my point.
Didn’t you like the mantra I made up for you? If you make any money off of it don’t forget to send me royalties.
I know you love me theone because in your own little way you are trying to save me. Problem with that is, I’ve already been saved.
Nice????- You get em Ladybug
