ST. GEORGE — Bringing together Pacific Islander students from college campuses across the state, Utah Tech University is hosting the Intercollegiate Showcase of Many Islands in a Common Sea.

Presented by Utah Tech’s Center for Inclusion and Belonging and Pasefika Student Union, along with the Utah Pacific Islander Intercollegiate Association, the showcase will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center on the Utah Tech campus.

The showcase is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

“We are excited to host various Pacific Island student groups from across the state,” Mike Nelson, interim director for Utah Tech’s Center for Inclusion and Belonging, said in a news release. “This is a great opportunity for students to share their culture and heritage, network and create meaningful friendships.”

As part of the event, Pacific Islander students from Utah Tech, Southern Utah, Utah Valley and Weber State universities, Salt Lake Community College and University of Utah will come together to share their culture and traditions through dance, music and traditional clothing.

“For the past couple of years, this event has been held in Northern Utah, and I am so excited to finally bring this showcase down to St. George and the region of Southern Utah,” Pedro added.
