Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Andrew Battenfield said the incident happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. near mile marker 20 in the northbound lanes of I-15.

One truck towing a rental trailer left the road and flipped over, briefly closing both lanes, he said.

One lane is open as of 4:45 p.m., though the trooper cautioned that traffic may be slow going as workers remove the truck and trailer from the scene.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation and the officer could comment on the possible cause.

The woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Battenfield noted the woman’s dog was recovered uninjured. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies, Utah Highway Patrol and members of the Hurricane Valley Fire Department assisted at the scene.
