‘Gifts, miracles and blessings’: Lion’s Gate Recovery recognizes the cascading effect of sobriety

CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — Sobriety isn’t just a gift for those in recovery. It’s a blessing for family, friends and the staff of Lion’s Gate Recovery, because watching others’ stories of success only adds to their own.

“For me, one of the gifts is that I get to offer hope,” said Kelly Cluff, director of marketing and admissions at Lion’s Gate. “I get family members that come in who have been struggling for a really long time. They have no idea where to turn and feel completely hopeless. And you see them – like weights coming off of them. To give back is awesome.”

For family members who have someone they love in the throes of addiction, Cluff said one of the most comforting things they can hear is that they’re doing the right thing.

While a majority of the Lion’s Gate staff are in recovery themselves, the additional gift of watching someone else improve their lives is equally as rewarding.

“Seeing the light in people’s eyes start twinkling again is one of the gifts that they’ve been given,” Cluff said about the staff. “To watch people obtain gifts, miracles and blessings – all the things they never thought they’d get.”

Not only is watching someone go from addiction to a life of recovery and success rewarding, but it is also the gift of watching people take responsibility for their lives. Those responsibilities include paying their own bills, growing their self-esteem and ultimately walking taller.

Staff member David Harrison said recovery gave him his life back. The gift of mending relationships with his family and the ability to be present has brought a new appreciation he didn’t have in addiction.

“One of the gifts of working in recovery is I get the opportunity to see the changes it makes in people’s lives as they get their families back and their lives back. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that.”

For many former clients turned staff members, their biggest gift has been being alive and present with their grandkids.

If you’re ready for a gift that will keep giving while sending a tidal wave of joy, peace and comfort, Lion’s Gate has the gift for you.

They’re offering two full scholarships, which include everything someone needs to get stable: medical treatment, residential treatment, day treatment, intensive outpatient programs and a month of sober living.

Why does Lion’s Gate gift scholarships every year?

“Because we’ve been given so much, we want to see others get help. Especially this time of year,” Cluff said.

Cluff stressed the importance of obtaining help. With or without a scholarship, Lion’s Gate is committed to helping everyone who seeks aid. If for any reason they cannot assist in a situation, they will find someone who can.
