Jeanne Hansen Earl

April 2, 1947-March 25, 2024

On March 25, 2024, our beautiful, sweet wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend Jeanne Hansen Earl passed away at her home surrounded by family after a short illness with dementia/Alzheimer’s. Jeanne was born on April 2, 1947, in Wendell, Idaho, to Ernest Dewey Hansen and Maxine Buchanan Hansen. She was the second oldest of four siblings. She had an older sister Julie and two younger brothers Chris and Ken.

Jeanne grew up in Tremonton, Deweyville, and West Fielding, Utah. She grew up on a farm raising turkeys, cows, pigs and many other animals. When she was 11 years old her father passed away from malaria. After just a year or so her mother married, Micah Oleen Garn. It was at that point she moved to West Fielding, Utah. Oleen helped raise Jeanne and was instrumental to her as a father over the remainder of her life. She attended Bear River High School where she was a High-Stepper and was loved by many. She excelled in dance and was an amazing pointe dancer.

Jeanne married Gaylen Craig Christensen on June 11, 1966, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had three children: Julie, Jennifer and Jeremy. After 11 years they divorced. During the next five years Jeanne was single and working up to three jobs to provide for her children. During that time, she met Dan Earl, an old high school acquaintance. They dated briefly and were married on July 19, 1980, and have been happily married for nearly 44 years. Together they raised seven children:  Julie, Jennifer, Jeremy, Chris, Travis, Chelsey, and Corby.

Jeanne became a licensed cosmetologist in 1984 and became a very popular hairdresser. In 1989, she developed chronic asthma which forced her to stop practicing as a hair stylist. In that same year Dan and Jeanne moved to Malad, Idaho, where they purchased a local grocery store and blended right into the community. Jeanne eventually purchased a flower shop across the street and named it Daisy Hollow where everyone who came there loved her. She had a natural knack for assembling flowers and tying the most beautiful bows.

Dan and Jeanne enjoyed golfing and vacationing together, their favorite place was Hawaii. They ended up selling both of their businesses and built a Chevron in Malad just off I-15, making it a pristine rest stop to eat and get gas for those traveling through. In 2001 they accepted an offer to sell the business and soon made their journey to St. George, Utah, where they spent the remainder of their life together.

While in St. George, both Jeanne and Dan became Realtors and worked side by side. They built several amazing homes together. Jeanne had her magical touch of decorating them in the most beautiful way. She was an avid homemaker. She could cook or sew anything, her home was always party central, no one ever left hungry. She was the best mom and grandma, attending every event possible for her grandchildren, whether it was dance or piano recitals, football, basketball, baseball games or mountain bike races, she was there.  During the latter part of her life, she suffered with several health issues making it harder for her to get around. While battling Dementia/Alzheimer’s she still wanted to make sure you were OK or asked you if you needed anything. This is how she was throughout her entire life.

Jeanne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings including Young Women’s leader, Enrichment leader, Primary teacher and visiting teacher.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her father Ernest Dewey Hansen; her mother Maxine Buchanan Garn; stepfather Micah Oleen Garn; sister Julie Grant; daughter Jennifer Christensen Summers; and grandchildren Hailey Ann Barnes, Skyler G. Summers and Braison Coe Hullinger.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Earl of St. George, Utah; brothers: Chris Hansen of Brigham City, Utah, and Ken Hansen (Nancy–deceased) of Salt Lake City, Utah; children: Julie Hullinger (Clayton) of St. George, Utah, Jeremy Christensen (Jackie) of St. George, Utah, Chris Earl (Brad) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Travis Earl (Nicci) of Providence, Utah, Chelsey Condie of West Point, Utah, and Corby Earl (Jamie) of Nibley, Utah;  grandchildren: Stacia Lyn Hullinger (Brad) Barton, Chaz (Laura) Hullinger, Cole Christensen, Bryce (Lexi) Christensen, Brynn Christensen, Hayden Christensen, Jandie (Matt) Fielding, Micah Talan Summers, Peyton (Kendyl) Barber, Dylan (Kyley) Barber, Emily (Landon) West, Sydney (Erik) Ravsten, Brynlee Earl, Breanna (Nate) Garrett, Konnor Bosworth, Sierra Hiller-Rivers, Caleb Earl, Cameron Earl, and Kadence Earl; great-grandchildren:  Huxley Jay Sederholm, Lachlan Skyler Sederholm, Beckham Matthew Fielding, Archie B. Barton, Aniah Hiller-Rivera and Lillian Barber.
