SOUTH SALT LAKE – A 3-year-old girl who was the subject an Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon has been found safe after the SUV she was in was allegedly stolen. The woman police say stole was apprehended later that evening.
Officials issued a statewide Amber Alert 3-year-old Bella Martinez shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday. According to a press release from the South Salt Lake Police, a black 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe was taken from a 7-Eleven convenience store at 287 W. 3300 East and was last seen going eastbound. Police confirmed to media around 5:30 p.m. that the girl had been found safe.
The individual who allegedly stole the SUV was identified by police as 24-year-old Rosealee Marie Key. She was later found and taken into custody around 7 p.m.
According to Fox13, Key is a frequent customer at the 7-Eleven. When the man driving the SUV pulled into the parking lot, Key rode up on a bicycle and asked him for a cigarette. The man then went inside the store. When he came out the SUV and Key were gone. Key is allegedly shown on surveillance as the person taking the vehicle.
